A Cooperative Mission Since 2012
The mission behind Breedables CoOp began in 2012 with a simple idea: pet breeders are stronger when we band together.
Breedables have always been more than individual pets, individual sellers, or individual businesses. They are an ecosystem. Breeders create supply, buyers create demand, sellers create marketplaces, and the knowledge of experienced community members helps new breeders grow.
We believed then, and we believe now, that a cooperative can help bring those pieces together. By working as a community, breeders can better understand market supply and demand, support one another's sales, find places to breed and sell, exchange knowledge, and share resources that would be much harder to build individually.
The original idea was not to create another group competing for control of the breedables community. It was to create a place where breeders could organize, cooperate, protect the health of the market, and help one another succeed.
Let's Flip the Script.
This is not me versus you. It is us and we.
Too often communities are taught to view everyone else as
competition.
Another breeder makes a sale, so somebody
believes they lost.
Another market grows, so somebody
believes their market has been threatened.
Another person
succeeds, so somebody feels they must compete against them.
We reject that way of thinking.
A strong breedables community does not need winners and losers at every turn. It needs people willing to share information, recommend one another, help new breeders, trade knowledge, and work together when problems affect the entire community.
Protecting a Healthy Community
A cooperative is strongest when the people inside it protect the community rather than tear it down. Breedables CoOp is intended to encourage constructive participation and provide an alternative to the destructive forces that can damage a market or divide a community.
Collaboration Over Rivalry
We can operate different businesses, breed different pets, and sell in different markets while still helping one another. Independence does not require hostility.
Guidance Over Gatekeeping
Knowledge should help people grow. When someone has a question, our first instinct should be to provide useful guidance rather than make participation harder.
Opportunity Over Exclusion
New breeders and established breeders both strengthen the community. We want more people to have access to spaces, information, sales opportunities, and events.
Contribution Deserves Recognition
Communities are built by people who show up, help others, organize events, share knowledge, create resources, and put in the work. We want those efforts to be seen and appreciated.
A Community Built Around "We"
The goal is not for Breedables CoOp to replace individual breeders, stores, markets, auction houses, or breedable communities. The goal is to connect them and give people more ways to help one another.
Someone else's success does not have to come at our expense. A breeder finding a buyer strengthens the market. A new breeder learning how to succeed creates another long-term participant. A successful auction gives breeders another sales channel. A thriving market attracts more customers to the breedables community as a whole.
That is the change we want to encourage: stop asking only, "What can I get?" and start asking, "What can we build together?"
Our Commitment
Breedables CoOp will continue building spaces, programs, events, tools, and resources that help breeders work together. We will listen to the community, offer guidance, encourage collaboration, recognize the people doing the work, and look for practical ways to make participation easier and more rewarding.
We are here to help each other. We are here to strengthen the community. And we are here to prove that cooperation can accomplish more than competition alone.
