Full Job Description

NEXUS Bioadaptive Research Complex is recruiting Security Officers to protect personnel, restricted areas, critical infrastructure, and sensitive operations throughout our underground blacksite facility.
Security Officers form the facility's primary protective and emergency-response presence. This is an active roleplay position involving patrols, access control, subject escorts, emergency response, containment incidents, investigations, and interaction with personnel and subjects throughout NEXUS.
Security is not simply a combat role. Officers are expected to use judgement, communicate with other departments, de-escalate situations where appropriate, and create engaging roleplay for everyone involved.
The Role
Security Officers may be assigned to laboratories, checkpoints, secure corridors, elevators, subject-transfer operations, restricted areas, surface facilities, or other sensitive locations.
During normal operations, Security maintains a visible presence throughout the facility and helps ensure that personnel and subjects remain within authorised areas.
During emergencies, Security may respond to containment breaches, alarms, disturbances, unauthorised access, missing subjects, attacks, facility lockdowns, or other developing incidents.
Security Officers regularly work alongside Containment Specialists, Scientists, Medical personnel, and NEXUS management.
Roleplay Expectations
NEXUS uses collaborative freeform roleplay. Holding a Security position does not give a player automatic control over another person's character.
Security Officers must allow other players reasonable opportunities to react to attempted restraints, searches, arrests, combat actions, escorts, or other significant interactions.
Powergaming, godmodding, forced outcomes, and using the Security role simply to dominate other players are not acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Patrol NEXUS facilities, including laboratories, secure corridors, checkpoints, restricted areas, surface facilities, and critical infrastructure.
• Control access to restricted areas and challenge unauthorised personnel where appropriate.
• Monitor facility security and respond to alarms, disturbances, suspicious activity, and emergency situations.
• Respond to containment breaches and assist Containment Specialists with securing affected areas.
• Escort Scientists, personnel, visitors, and subjects when security protection is required.
• Establish checkpoints, security cordons, lockdown areas, and evacuation routes during emergencies.
• Investigate security incidents, unauthorised access, missing personnel, suspicious behaviour, theft, sabotage, and other breaches of facility security.
• Protect NEXUS personnel and infrastructure from credible in-character threats.

General Requirements

• Must be interested in immersive and collaborative Second Life roleplay.
• Previous security, military, police, combat, or similar roleplay experience is welcomed but is not required.
• New roleplayers may apply and can learn NEXUS-specific procedures through orientation and training.
• No real-world security, military, police, firearms, or other professional qualification is required.
• Must be able to distinguish in-character (IC) situations from out-of-character (OOC) interactions.
• Must communicate respectfully with players and other NEXUS personnel.
• Must respect player boundaries, consent requirements, and NEXUS community rules.
• Powergaming, godmodding, forced outcomes, and abusing Security authority to dominate other players are not permitted.

• Must be willing to cooperate with Containment Specialists, Scientists, Medical personnel, Administration, and other departments.
• Must understand that Security and Containment have different responsibilities. Security protects the facility and responds to threats, while Containment primarily manages contained subjects and containment operations.
• Must be willing to communicate when unable to attend a previously agreed shift, event, training session, or RP activity.
• Must understand that this is a fictional Second Life roleplay position and not real-world security employment.

Schedule

Flexible scheduling. NEXUS operates across multiple time zones and Security Officers are not required to maintain fixed real-world working hours.
Officers may participate when available. Scheduled patrols, training sessions, security operations, events, and emergency scenarios may also be organised in advance.
There is no requirement to be online every day. However, if an Officer commits to a scheduled activity and can no longer attend, we ask that they communicate this to the appropriate dept
