Full Job Description

Customer Service Representative (CSR)

Location: Coral Moon Cove at Sea Glass Shores
Department: Auction House & Community Operations
Position: Customer Service Representative
Reports To: Cove Owner / Auction House Management

Position Overview

Coral Glass Fish Exchange (CGFE) is a welcoming, community-focused auction house dedicated to providing an enjoyable, professional, and entertaining experience for residents, breeders, collectors, and visitors throughout Second Life.

Our Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) serve as ambassadors of the Cove and are essential to the success of our auctions, events, and daily operations.

We are looking for individuals who demonstrate integrity, honesty, professionalism, teamwork, and a genuine passion for helping others.

Our philosophy is simple: We treat people with kindness, lead with integrity, and believe that everyone deserves to feel welcome at the Cove.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Customer Service & Community Relations

Welcome guests, auction participants, and new visitors to Coral Glass Fish Exchange.

Provide friendly, courteous, and professional assistance.

Answer questions regarding auctions, panel rentals, shopping areas, and Cove operations.

Help new participants understand auction procedures and house rules.

Promote a positive, inclusive, and drama-free environment.

Address concerns respectfully and refer unresolved issues to Cove management.

2. Auction House Support

Assist auctioneers with preparing and organizing auction panels.

Help participants rent, set up, and properly configure bidding and shopping panels.

Ensure participants understand applicable auction rules and minimum bidding requirements.

Assist with opening bids, item pricing, and panel setup when needed.

Help maintain an organized auction floor and encourage participants to follow the auction schedule.

Support the auctioneer throughout the event while avoiding unnecessary interruptions.

Assist with panel availability, reservations, and participant questions.

3. Event Hosting & Participation

Assist with hosting scheduled auctions, special events, community activities, and promotional events.

Arrive prepared and on time for events they have agreed to support.

Welcome participants and encourage positive engagement.

Help promote upcoming auctions and activities through approved Second Life groups and notices.

Coordinate with auctioneers, hostesses, and other Cove team members.

Assist with event preparation, organization, and cleanup.

Demonstrate initiative in creating enjoyable experiences for Cove guests.

4. Professional Representation

Represent Coral Glass Fish Exchange and Sea Glass Shores positively, both on and off duty.

Maintain professionalism, integrity, honesty, and respect when interacting with others throughout Second Life.

Avoid gossip, bullying, harassment, public arguments, and unnecessary drama.

Never use the CSR position to intimidate others, create conflict, or obtain special privileges.

Protect the reputation of the Cove through responsible communication and behavior.

Respect the privacy of guests, staff, and management.

Bring concerns directly to Cove leadership rather than discussing internal matters publicly.

Being a CSR is more than wearing a title. It means representing the values and reputation of the Cove wherever you go.

5. Teamwork & Communication

Work cooperatively with auctioneers, hostesses, fellow CSRs, and Cove leadership.

Communicate scheduling conflicts or availability changes as early as possible.

Follow reasonable instructions from Cove management.

Share suggestions and ideas that improve the auction experience.

Support fellow team members and assist when needed.

Respect management decisions and established procedures.

Handle disagreements privately, professionally, and constructively.

6. Knowledge of Cove Operations

CSRs are expected to develop and maintain a working knowledge of:

Coral Glass Fish Exchange auction rules and procedures.

XS fish, tanks, and applicable auction requirements.

Shopping panels, bidding panels, and auction setup.

Panel rental procedures and available shopping areas.

Current auction schedules and special events.

Official Cove notices, announcements, and community guidelines.

Training and guidance will be provided as needed.

Qualifications & Desired Characteristics

Successful CSR candidates should demonstrate:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

A friendly, welcoming, and approachable personality.

Honesty, integrity, maturity, and sound judgment.

Dependability and a willingness to follow through on commitments.

The ability to remain calm and professional when addressing difficult situations.

A willingness to learn auction procedures and assist others.

The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

A genuine interest in helping the Cove community grow and succeed.

Previous auction house or Second Life customer service experience is preferred but not required. A positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn are equally important.

Scheduling & Availability

CSR scheduling is flexible and based on individual availability, auction schedules, and operational needs.

Representatives are encouraged to participate regularly but are not expected to place Second Life responsibilities ahead of real-life obligations.

Once a CSR commits to supporting or hosting an event, they are expected to honor that commitment or notify management promptly if circumstances change.

Compensation

Customer Service Representatives are compensated individually based on their contributions to Coral Glass Fish Exchange.

Compensation may be determined by:

Individual performance and reliability.

Participation in scheduled auctions and events.

Events personally hosted or coordinated.

Customer service contributions and overall involvement.

Additional responsibilities assigned or approved by management.

Compensation arrangements are established individually and are not guaranteed to be identical among representatives.

Specific payment terms will be discussed directly with Cove management.

Standards of Conduct & Accountability

All CSRs are expected to uphold the standards of Coral Glass Fish Exchange.

Unprofessional behavior, repeated failure to honor commitments, misuse of the CSR role, or conduct that negatively impacts the Cove community may result in coaching, reassignment, suspension of duties, or removal from the team.

Management reserves the right to evaluate performance, adjust responsibilities, and make staffing decisions based on the best interests of the Cove.

Our Commitment to Our Team

At Coral Glass Fish Exchange, we believe a successful community begins with the people who represent it.

We value creativity, dedication, loyalty, kindness, and individuals who take pride in helping others.

Our goal is to provide an environment where team members feel appreciated, supported, and respected while contributing to something enjoyable and meaningful.

We work hard, we have fun, we support one another, and above all, we protect the positive community we have built.
